Corwin Labs makes room for better discovery
A focused practice routine helps new sellers move from product knowledge to confident customer conversations.

Corwin Labs builds software for busy operations teams. Its founders knew the product inside out, but new sellers needed more than a product tour to explain why it mattered. Early calls often became feature demonstrations before anyone understood the buyer’s problem.
The team introduced MockAllies as a place to rehearse discovery and objection handling. Sellers could speak with a simulated buyer, review feedback from the conversation, and try again before taking the same skills into a customer meeting.
“We stopped asking new sellers to memorise our pitch and started helping them practise the conversation.”
New starters began with a simple routine: practise an opening, ask questions about the buyer’s current process, and explain one relevant outcome. They then reviewed where they had rushed, missed a follow-up question, or answered an objection too quickly.
Each rehearsal gives the seller a specific moment to review with a coach. Readiness remains a human judgement; the scenario does not describe a measured reduction in training time.
The most useful change was a smaller focus for each retry. Instead of attempting to perfect the entire pitch, sellers worked on one behaviour, such as pausing after a question or checking what a concern really meant.
“The biggest improvement came from doing one thing better on the next attempt.”
Managers used the practice as a starting point for their own judgement. A strong rehearsal did not automatically mean someone was ready for every account; it made the next coaching conversation more concrete.
Corwin Labs now treats rehearsal as part of preparing for a call. New sellers gain a place to make mistakes, while experienced teammates can revisit the moments that still challenge them.
